Introduction: 

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine system disorder that occurs in women of reproductive age. With PCOS, many small sacs of fluid develop along the outer edge of the ovary. These are called cysts. The small fluid-filled cysts contain immature eggs. It is diagnosed via trans-vaginal ultrasound of the ovaries. Common symptoms include ovarian cysts, irregular menstrual periods, and hair on the face and body. The exact cause of PCOS is unknown. Early diagnosis and treatment along with weight loss may lower the risk of long-term complications such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease.The use of metformin, an insulin-lowering drug, in PCOS was appreciated that insulin resistance played an important role in the pathophysiology of the disorder.

Dosage: 1 tablet twice daily for 3 to 6 months
